Winchendon Pop Warner
The principal activity of the Winchendon Pop Warner program (WPW) is to produce long-term benefits for both the youth student athletes and the community of Winchendon at large by providing in-town opportunities for youth to participate in the team sports of football and cheerleading, eliminating barriers such as transportation and high registration fees and in-town volunteerism activities for community members. Winchendon Pop Warner is guided by the following goals that its board of directors have established: - To operate a Winchendon based pop Warner program beginning in August of 2007. - To rejuvenate home town pride giving the children and parents of Winchendon the opportunity to unite as a community through Pop Warner Football and Cheering. - To develop greater opportunity for volunteerism in the town of Winchendon, increasing the number of volunteer opportunities by 25 ? 75 during the first season alone. - To teach the game of football and cheering in a safe and structured environment stressing fundamental values that will be used throughout our participant?s lifetime including but not limited to sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, academic excellence and community pride. - To keep student athletes in Winchendon by developing a feeder system with the high school program.
