JCUA – Jewish Council on Urban Affairs

We organize the Jewish community to pursue justice in partnership with our neighbors in Chicago and Illinois. JCUA brings together the Jewish community to pursue justice with our neighbors in Chicago & Illinois JCUA was founded in 1964 with the longstanding mission of combating poverty, racism and antisemitism working in partnership with diverse communities. In the last decade, the JCUA board and staff moved to center a community organizing model for all of our work. As a primary aspect of this “pivot”, we shifted our program approach to putting community organizing at the core, working to mobilize the Jewish community of Chicago to be a powerful partner for economic and racial justice. As a broad-based multi-generational increasingly multi-cultural organization, JCUA has a unique ability to engage members of the Jewish community to act on their Jewish values of pursuing justice, using a root-cause approach to advance systemic change.
