Avasara empowers girls of promise to lead lives of distinction and impact. The Leadership Foundation of India is a US 501(c)(3) non profit organization that invests in and empowers the next generation of young women leaders in India. We primarily carry out this mission by supporting the establishment and growth of the Avasara Academy, a secondary school and leadership academy that seeks to develop the leadership potential of India's brightest young women.

Gunja, an Avasara alum (Class of 2020), is one of only ten students selected across the Asia‑Pacific to spend six months at the Biozentrum, University of Basel in Switzerland as a ThinkSwiss Research Scholar 2025. Her research explores pharmacogenomic germline variants that influence drug response—using CRISPR screening, RNA‑seq, and integrative bioinformatic modeling for personalized treatment strategies. Her passion for translational cancer biology started with The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and gained momentum during her internship at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), where she studied ribosomal heterogeneity and complex cell signaling.
