A page from a 1923 directory from Breslau shows members of individuals with the last name of Markus, including their addresses and professions. Markus was commonly a Jewish last name. And in fact, we are seeking information related to someone in this directory, the gynecologist Nathan Markus, who is recorded as living at Gartenstrasse 6 in Breslau. Today many streets make up the former Gartenstrasse. What we are interested in knowing is in what Standesamt in Breslau (there are five of them) would records for his marriage, probably around this time, be found in? We are seeking a marriage record for him to a woman named Ilse Wunsche, his first wife. It is believed they married sometime between 1920 and 1924. Nathan Markus was born in Pleschen, Germany in 1884, if that helps locate the record. (fb)
