We all carry burdens in our human life. From financial worries to difficult work environments and family situations, our circumstances often leave us worn out and exhausted. And as we struggle to bear all our burdens, we might wonder where we can find real, lasting relief and rest. Fortunately, the Bible tells us. In Matthew 11:28-29, the Lord Jesus says, “Come to Me all who toil and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” These verses show us that even in the midst of bearing difficult burdens, when we come to the Lord Jesus, He gives us rest, even rest for our souls. What a promise! The Lord doesn’t say here that He’ll give us a problem-free life or tangible improvements to our situations. Rather, in the midst of all our troubles, He will give us inward rest: perfect peace and full satisfaction.
