Line of Duty Death Announcement • Name: Deputy Nathaniel “Nate” Ansay • Department: Florence County Sheriff’s Office • Location: Florence County, South Carolina • End of Watch (EOW): May 21, 2025 Deputy Nathaniel Ansay, age 24, tragically died in the line of duty following a head-on vehicle crash while on duty. The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 301 near Blackwells Farm Road in Effingham, South Carolina, on the afternoon of May 20, 2025. Deputy Ansay and another driver were both transported to the hospital; sadly, Deputy Ansay succumbed to his injuries the next day. Deputy Ansay began his service with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on October 30, 2023, and graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy on March 15, 2024. Known for his bright smile and warm heart, he was deeply passionate about serving his community. The Florence County Sheriff described him as someone who “never met a stranger and always had a huge smile on his face.” Deputy Ansay loved being a deputy and was respected by his peers and the community. Line of Duty Death Announcement • Name: Master Firefighter April Lubenetski • Department: Emmaus Professional Firefighters Association IAFF Local 5004 / Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company • Location: Emmaus & Lehigh Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania • End of Watch (EOW): May 19, 2025  Master Firefighter April Lubenetski, 51, succumbed to occupational cancer on May 19, 2025, after a nearly year-long battle . April dedicated 24 years of her life to serving the citizens of Emmaus borough as a master firefighter and the residents of Lehigh Township as a volunteer firefighter, responding selflessly to emergencies and community events . Her unwavering courage, compassion, and mentorship inspired countless colleagues throughout her career. Despite her diagnosis, she remained deeply involved—attending department functions and supporting fellow firefighters until her final days. April’s legacy of service and her commitment to public safety will endure in the hearts of all who served alongside her. Rest in peace, Hero. You will never be forgotten. (fb)
