The Support Committee At Calverton National Cemetery Inc., is a not-for-profit charitable New York State Corporation (2007) with an assigned Internal Revenue Service, Department of the Treasury, 501(c)3 registration (#33-1164236), founded in 1978 with expressed focus of offering ceremonies, events, programs, services at Calverton National Cemetery, with the approval of first director of Calverton National Cemetery, Theodore J. Nick (January 1978 – April 1980). Also being a Veterans Service Organization (VSO) servicing and supporting all veterans of all service branches, all periods of service, their families and friends at the Calverton National Cemetery. With major capital improvement projects, ongoing and/or planned, such as the “Avenue of Flags”, “Memorial Garden & Assembly Area” as well as other beautification and improvement projects, educational and informational outreaches increasing public awareness, youth mentoring programs, plus much more.
