The Historic Egyptian Theatre opened in 1929 features live events and movies; operated by a non-profit organization since 1978. Located in Downtown DeKalb, IL. The Egyptian Theatre is a 1929, fully restored, Egyptian Art Deco movie palace, operated and staffed by the volunteer group, P.E.T. Inc. (Preservation of Egyptian Theatre) and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. To share and protect the historical integrity of the theatre as a regional arts center for entertainment and community involvement.
