Some people say its just a "stray cat" but to me its a beautiful soul, a lost soul who wants to survive and thrive and is no different than "all" of us. Today my friend Morgan was contacted by a friend who found a kitten that had been hit on a city street but was still alive. Why would someone leave a kitten on the street after they had hit him? I would like to think that maybe they didn't know but how could you not ? I will give the benefit of the doubt but I tend to always be suspicious of humans. Morgan named this kitty Vista after the street he was unfortunately hit on.😢 He was scooped up and taken to Morgan who asked me for help and I immediately dropped everything and took this poor kitty to Value Vet in Urbandale. I want to thank Dr. Megan for taking care of Vista but the diagnosis was not unexpected and very sad. We knew it was grave when Vista couldn't move his legs and had no pain response. 😿 Morgan and I had to be honest with ourselves and so we made the decision that the best thing to do would be to let this beautiful kitty go, to be pain free as much as it hurt our hearts.💔 This has been a very sad Monday, totally unexpected chain of events to occur today. How could it of been prevented? Was the driver distracted? Was this kitty a stray? If so please spay/neuter neighborhood cats. If you are feeding them, they are your responsibility especially in WDM where there is no shelter in this suburb taking in strays. 🥺 Please catch all the kittens as they are vulnerable and find a rescue or shelter who will take them. Was this an indoor outdoor kitty which is a label I "hate"? A friendly kitty/cat should be kept INDOORS for his own safety. Who knows if he was a pet that was allowed to roam. This is what happens when you give your cat/kitty freedom! 😔 I sat with "your kitty" while he was being euthanized, petted him, kissed his little head so he knew kindness and love while he passed. I took him to get the medical assessment he deserved and paid the bill. We did everything we could so he didn't suffer and if he had the slightest chance for quality of life we would of gladly saved him. PLEASE watch for animals on city streets, spay/neuter strays that you are feeding, keep your pets inside and safe. They are not just cats, they are beautiful souls. (fb)
