Phoenix Philosophies Inc

Phoenix Philosophies, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation that will provide decent, affordable, permanent housing with the opportunity of home ownership to people of moderate to low income. Initially, the corporation will utilize abandoned, tax delinquent, vacant or neglected properties and rehabilitate them for the purpose of providing rental opportunities. The goal is to improve and stabilize neighborhoods one house at a time. Our clients will be people that are referred through military veteran homeless programs. Phoenix Philosophies, Inc. will provide one to four family residential properties with the initial emphasis on one and two family units. People residing in a one family home will be eligible to purchase the home from Phoenix after four years. Any multiple family dwelling will stay in Phoenix inventory and not be sold. In the City of Syracuse, over the past year there has been an increase of homeless families. The near Westside, Southwest, Southside, and far Westside of Syracuse are the target areas of property acquisition. Our market research shows that these areas have the highest concentrations of low/moderate incomes, extensive vacant and dilapidated buildings and currently there is minimal to no economic development infrastructure in these areas. Market research also has shown that the largest increase in the homeless population is families and people with disabilities.

Eduo.org helped me discover a small local organization doing amazing environmental work that I would’ve never found otherwise. It’s a hidden gem for socially conscious people.
