Stewarding the Land, Strengthening Community This week, CFC was honored to welcome Lake County Forest Preserves President Jessica Vealitzek and Vice President Gina Roberts for a visit to share the important work CFC is doing to restore and protect our natural areas—and explore ways to build stronger partnerships for conservation across the region. Our team—including Executive Director Abigail Derby Lewis, staff, board members, and volunteers—shared how community-driven conservation is making a real impact across the region. Past Board President Jim Vanderpoel led a tour of Flint Creek Savanna, where spring blooms and restored habitat demonstrated what’s possible when people come together to care for the land. We’re inspired by the leadership of the Forest Preserves and excited to build even stronger collaborations to protect our natural heritage for future generations. (fb)
