Brown County Humane Society

The Brown County Humane Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals in Brown County, Ohio. Founded in 1976, it operates as a key community resource focused on animal welfare.

Mission

The organization's mission is centered on providing care and support for animals that have been rescued from situations of cruelty, neglect, homelessness, or owner surrenders. It aims to place these animals into permanent, loving homes and advocates for responsible animal care through community education.

Operations

As a small county shelter, the Brown County Humane Society relies on donations and grants to fund its programs. It does not operate on a first-come, first-served basis for adoptions; instead, it prioritizes finding the best fit for both animals and adopters. All animals are vaccinated, including rabies vaccination, and spayed/neutered before being adopted out.

Partnerships

The Brown County Humane Society is a partner of Best Friends Animal Society, a network that includes thousands of shelters and rescue groups working towards making the United States a no-kill nation. This partnership provides access to resources, including marketing support, fundraising events, webinars, and grants, to enhance lifesaving efforts for cats and dogs.

Fundraising and Community Events

The organization hosts various fundraising events, including an annual Fiesta Fundraiser, which is one of its largest events. This event supports the shelter's operations by providing essential funding for medical care, shelter, and love to animals in need.

Legal Status

The Brown County Humane Society is registered with an EIN of 31-0895108.

Brown County Humane Society ABOUT US The Brown County Humane Society is a small county shelter with a big country heart. The organization was founded in 1976. We are proud to have achieved no kill status in 2010. Because of these efforts and the ongoing hard work of our staff volunteers and community we do not euthanize animals due to lack of space.
