UOAA exists for the sole purpose of helping YOU or someone you love return to a normal, healthy, act United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc. (UOAA) promotes quality of life for people with ostomies and continent diversions through information, support, advocacy and collaboration. Our 300+ affiliated ostomy support groups, organized by volunteers throughout the United States, provide the opportunity for local, in-person support. We work toward a society where people with ostomies and intestinal or urinary diversions are universally accepted and supported socially, economically, medically, and psychologically.

Happy Mother's Day from UOAA. Enjoy this story about Ruth Fawley who had ostomy surgery in 1951 before doctor's were sure women with an ileostomy could get pregnant and give birth. Ruth would later joke that out of the nineteen surgeries she endured, the only time she left the hospital with more than she went in with was when she had her two Cesareans.
