LOOKING TO FUND YOUR PREPARATION FOR MINISTRY? The Society for the Increase of the Ministry’s (SIM) scholarships can be an important resource. They also can introduce you to a vibrant and creative community of young, innovative leaders seeking to serve the church and world in a context of rapid social and cultural change – and who are passionate about new ventures in ministry including church plants and other initiatives for inviting members of their generation to The Christian Way of Love and the Episcopal branch of the Jesus Movement. Applications are due on May 19, 2025. For information on how to apply, visit https://simministry.org/scholarship-programs. SIM welcomes applicants from the Episcopal and Anglican traditions seeking to study in institutions in North America. Applicants preparing for the presbyterate, the diaconate and for lay ministry are welcome. THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS IS AMONG YOU: Scholarship Season 2025 at The Society for the Increase of the Ministry (SIM) The Society for the Increase of the Ministry (SIM) is pleased to announce its new scholarship season for 2025. SIM is in its eighth year of awarding Becoming Beloved Community and Named Scholarships to promising young leaders across the Episcopal Church who are preparing for the ministries of the presbyterate, the diaconate and from the order of the laity – and who are passionate about new ventures in ministry including church plants and other initiatives for inviting members of their generation to The Christian Way of Love and the Episcopal branch of the Jesus Movement. For 167 years, SIM has been a resource for theological education and part of the network within the Episcopal Church that is leadership-focused, allied with partners who are engaging vocational discernment and ministry development – in short, re-imagining church. More than 80 Becoming Beloved Community recipients have been awarded since 2018 from applicant pools of domestic and international students, richly diverse in racial, ethnic, and social backgrounds and in the forms of ministry they have undertaken. Our scholarships support leaders of change in church and society, serving in small, mid-size and large congregations, involved in diocesan schools for ministry, working for social and racial justice, active in ministry to the incarcerated and in re-imagining congregational life. Our classes of current scholars may be viewed here: https://simministry.org/current-scholars SIM is meeting the demand for the kinds of leaders that our life as a church requires in this hour. Our scholarships contribute to the “levelling up” of leadership quality across the church – meeting the need for young leaders who can respond with vision and sensitivity to a rapidly changing ecclesial and social landscape. Some of these leaders may have come into your company through your own work of leadership discernment and ministry development. These scholarships are for this kind of leader. If within your diocese or ministry context, there are emerging young leaders of quality discerning their call and preparing to engage a theological education, encourage them to visit our application site at: https://simministry.org/scholarship-application-main. Criteria for Becoming Beloved Community and Named scholarships for non-traditional students is found at this page: https://simministry.org/scholarship-programs. The deadline for applications is Monday, May 19, 2025. (fb)
