Today, over 60 Portage High School students delved into construction careers at the Portage EDC Construction 360 event. They began the day by exploring construction career opportunities and the Construction Advancement Foundation - CAF provided an overview of the www.webuildnwi.com website. The students then traveled to the CAF where they engaged in hands-on activities with IUOE Local 150 and Iron Workers Local #395. Later, at Sheet Metal Workers Local 20, they crafted sheet metal toolboxes and welded together mini airplanes. The day concluded with Superior Construction, where students learned about the company and visited the SR 249 bridge project at the Port of Indiana. The students walked away with a better understanding on what it takes to make it in the Northwest Indiana Construction Industry. A special thanks to the Portage EDC for providing lunch! (fb)
