Wetlands restoration in action! Deputy Director Katie Beaver and Stewardship Manager Brad Weigel meet with consultant Katelin Nickerson of Flycatcher to discuss wetland restoration options at Half Moon Pond. There are some causeways on the property that cross wet areas that have culverts that do not allow sufficient passage of water or movement of creatures such as salamanders. The team was strategizing which of these spits, if removed, would have the most benefit for wildlife movement and water quality. #coastalriversconservationtrust #wildlifecrossing #waterquality (fb)

Nature Nerd Moment. Many of you are likely familiar with the Fibonacci sequence. The sequence describes a series of numbers, wherein each successive value is the sum of the two before it. 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, and so on. This sequence occurs quite frequently in nature - from the spiral galaxies and a nautilus shell to branches on many trees and petals on many flowers. There are so many natural examples to find along Coastal Rivers Trails - whether you are looking up, down or straight ahead. Where have you found the sequence? #naturerules #coastalriversconservationtrust (fb)
