The reopening of the Old Courthouse on May 3 was a momentous occasion for Gateway Arch National Park, St. Louis, and our nation. The completion of the Old Courthouse renovations marked the final chapter of the CityArchRiver Project, which Gateway Arch Park Foundation was originally formed to sponsor and coordinate before transitioning to our conservancy role in 2017. This project, the largest private investment in a national park in National Park Service history, reimagined the Arch grounds, including the visitor center and museum, Kiener Plaza, and now, the Old Courthouse. Gateway Arch Park Foundation was proud to contribute $6 million in privately-raised funds to the $27.5 million total renovation and an additional $2.7 million from a Missouri Department of Economic Development grant that the Foundation applied for and received. Renovations included all-new exhibits, which work in conjunction to enhance and reinvigorate the visitor experience, while sharing the history of the building and the stories of those who walked its halls. This renovation is important not only for the historical community of this country but also for the everyday person who can now interact with the building on a deeper level through new accessibility features and the preserved structure. It's that experience exactly that we care about at Gateway Arch Park Foundation, with our mission pillars of Conservation, Preservation, Education, and Community Events.
