🏠 The affordable housing crisis is growing — and it affects us all. The National Low Income Housing Coalition has released their annual GAP report, and for the sixth year in a row no state has an adequate supply of affordable rental housing for the lowest-income renters. 📉 The U.S. faces a shortage of 7.1 million affordable and available rental homes for people with extremely low incomes — those earning at or below the federal poverty line or 30% of their area’s median income. That means only 35 affordable homes exist for every 100 extremely low-income renter households. This is a nationwide crisis, affecting every state and major metro area. And yet, housing assistance remains severely underfunded — even as proposals threaten to cut critical programs.
