Our university community is mourning the loss of Sr. Diane (Mary Alana) Kennedy, OP, ’55, Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa, who passed away on March 30, 2025 at St. Dominic Villa in Hazel Green, Wisconsin. For more than 50 years, Sr. Diane’s ministry was dedicated to educating and animating communities in the Dominican Catholic intellectual tradition. Sr. Diane was Dominican University’s inaugural vice president for Mission and Ministry and founder of the St. Catherine of Siena Center. She was also the Promoter of the Cause for canonization for Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli, OP, founder of the community of the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 1 p.m. in Rosary Chapel, with visitation immediately prior. To read more about Sr. Diane, please visit: https://www.dom.edu/sr-kennedy (fb)

Three Dominican University neuroscience students were recognized recently for their research and contributions to science. Two students took home awards at the Chicago Society for Neuroscience Meeting, held March 21 at Northwestern University’s medical school campus in downtown Chicago. Harmony Perez was awarded second place in the undergraduate poster session for her research project on sporadic epilepsy, which she conducted at the University of Chicago last summer. Jashui Zárate Torres was awarded third place in the inaugural “neuro art” competition for her original design depicting learning and memory. Separately, Nafia Khan, a junior and neuroscience major, was selected to present research at the 2025 International Neuropsychological Society meeting in New Orleans. (fb)
