CONSTRUCTION WORKERS CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP (Building In Youth)
“Mentoring youth to build godly character through construction training" is KEY. Graduation from high school unlocks the doorway to their future.Investment through construction skill training will help youth become productive and focus on setting goals to achieve after they graduate.Building In Youth (BiY) is an innovative connection between the construction industry and students. The "Skills Gap" in the Trades is widening at alarming rates with the average age of workers at 55 and few young people entering the field.BiY was established in 2011 to offer real-world construction experience and safety training to equip youth, not headed to college, with marketable job skills for the Trades. BiY wants to motivate students to consider the construction industry as a viable career option once they graduate from high school. Students are encouraged to volunteer in their community by 'giving back' through the new skills acquired from construction training. Working with adult mentors helps students learn how to handle barriers to successful employment, such as attitude, responsibility, and time management.Skilled-trades jobs are available in abundance! Let's work together on reducing that "Skills Gap".BiY brings together adults with construction backgrounds to share their knowledge and experience with a younger generation eager to learn. Working together, a community need is met and students get a taste of volunteering as well as working alongside professionals. Populations served include youth, adults, seniors, veterans, and those with disabilities in Southwest Washington state. Work involves mainly building wheelchair ramps and installing grab bars. The expertise, wisdom and values that guided one generation are intentionally passed along to the next. ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- -----CONSTRUCTION WORKERS CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP1.
