El Kilombo is an all-volunteer-run nonprofit organization in Durham dedicated to bringing together people from student, migrant, low-income, and people of color communities to tackle the challenges we face in Durham, NC. We strengthen capacities for taking collective decisions ourselves on all important issues that affect us and create cooperative projects that address concrete needs in the areas of learning, health, housing, and employment.

Our work is based on an organic farm and learning center where we build our vision for a democratic egalitarian and sustainable society by investigating the shifting social and ecological landscape and developing practicable alternative forms of organization such as worker cooperatives agroecological cooperative farming and youth educational programming.
