Apollo is so sad in the shelter 🥲 Apollo came to us a couple of weeks ago after his previous owners experienced financial troubles, which led to him not receiving proper care. He arrived extremely emaciated and understandably frightened by all the sudden changes in his life. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been helping him settle in and slowly bring him back to a healthy weight—and he’s already doing so much better. Apollo is a typical Doberman Pinscher: smart, energetic, and eager to bond. He would thrive in a home that gives him outlets for his energy. After everything he’s been through, he can be a bit timid at first, but once he’s comfortable, he comes right out of his shell. He loves being by your side, joining in activities, and his favorite thing to do at the end of the day is curl up with a stuffed toy on his bed. He walks great on a leash, knows basic commands, and is always eager to learn new things. Apollo does well with dogs his size (around 50 pounds) or larger, but he has not done well with small dogs or cats. We believe he would do well with school-age children or older, as long as there’s caution taken around food and toys. Because of his past starvation, we require that he be fed separately from other animals and kept away from family meals for now. We don’t blame the poor guy—he loves food and is still learning table manners 😅 Apollo is neutered, current on vaccines, and microchipped.
