Bali Animal Welfare Association

The Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA) is a registered non-profit organization operating in Bali, Indonesia. Founded in 2007 by Janice Girardi, an American resident who has made Bali her home for over 30 years, the organization is dedicated to improving animal welfare on the island.

Mission

BAWA's mission is to put compassion into action and create sustainable change for Bali's animals. The organization aims to influence a positive shift in attitudes and behaviors towards animals, ultimately making Bali a place where animals are treated with compassion and respect.

Vision

BAWA envisions a Bali in which each village is its own natural sanctuary for animals. They strive for a future where all animals are routinely vaccinated, healthy, cared for, and treated with kindness. The organization also focuses on controlling animal populations at a manageable and sustainable level.

Services

BAWA provides a comprehensive range of services to improve animal welfare:

• Emergency Response and Rescue: The organization operates an emergency hotline and ambulance service to rescue animals in distress.
• Food and Medication: BAWA provides essential food and medical treatment to animals in need.
• Rehabilitation and Adoption: They assist in rehabilitating injured or sick animals and facilitate adoption to give these animals a second chance at a happy life.
• Community Education: BAWA conducts public education programs, especially in schools, to raise awareness about animal welfare and promote humane treatment.
• Humane Population and Disease Control: The organization implements sterilization and vaccination programs to control animal populations and prevent the spread of diseases.

• Rabies Vaccinations: Vaccinating nearly 9,000 animals against rabies every year.
