Race Track Chaplaincy of America Inc (RTCA) is an evangelical, interdenominational, non-profit Christian organization founded to serve the spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and educational needs of workers within the horse racing industry. Established with a vision to spread God's grace throughout this sector, RTCA has grown into a network of chaplains and volunteers dedicated to fulfilling its mission across numerous race tracks in the United States.

History

The Race Track Chaplaincy of America was initiated by Salty Roberts, a backstretch worker from South Carolina. In 1970, Roberts collaborated with Al Dawson, the missions director for the Florida Southern Baptist Convention, to introduce the concept of on-site church services at race tracks. The first service was held at Gulfstream Park in a makeshift chapel, marking the beginning of RTCA's ministry. Following Salty Roberts' passing in 2017, the organization has continued to grow under the guidance of its network of chaplains and volunteers.

Mission and Activities

RTCA focuses on five key areas of service:

• Emotional Support: Providing emotional care and counseling.
• Physical Support: Assisting with basic needs such as food and clothing.
• Social Support: Promoting community through activities and gatherings.
• Educational Support: Offering workshops and educational programs.
