British Columbia has played a critical role in the survival and recovery of Trumpeter Swans. In the 1940s, the vast majority of known Trumpeter Swans were thought to occur in BC. Key swan landscapes in BC- such as coastal estuaries, river valleys, and farmlands - are often located on private lands. Since 1971, the Nature Trust of BC and its partners have purchased, protected, restored, and managed thousands of acres of key swan habitats. Success stories will be shared, along with opportunities for both American and Canadian swan enthusiasts to help accelerate conservation of even more swan habitat in BC.
