Safari Club International mourns the passing of Fernando Saiz, a true leader, passionate outfitter, and lifelong advocate for ethical hunting and conservation. As president of Cinegética-SCI and founder of the Culminum Magister association, Fernando dedicated his life to uniting the global hunting community and preserving Spain’s rich outdoor heritage. His legacy includes assisting in the creation of Cinegética, opening the door to the Iberian Peninsula to hunters around the globe through world-class experiences rooted in tradition, and a long list of achievements and honors such as SCI’s prestigious C.J. McElroy Award. “Fernando was more than a friend to SCI—he was a global ambassador for our values,” said SCI CEO W. Laird Hamberlin. Fernando passed away on May 19, 2025, in his beloved home of Madrid. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those he inspired. His spirit will live on in every conservation success and ethical hunt carried forward in his name. Rest in peace, Fernando. You will be missed, but never forgotten. (fb)
