Providing opportunities for people with intellectual and development disabilities (#idd) to live, love, work, and learn. Providing support and opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). THE MISSION OF YAI/ROCKLAND COUNTY ASSOCIATION FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES (YAI/RCAPD) IS TO PROMOTE, SUPPORT OR OPERATE EDUCATIONAL, VOCATIONAL, MEDICAL, SOCIAL, RECREATIONAL AND RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES AND RESEARCH FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES; TO EDUCATE THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS TO THEIR PROBLEMS, AND TO PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE OF SUCH INDIVIDUALS.THROUGH A WIDE VARIETY OF EMPLOYMENT, RESIDENTIAL, FAMILY SUPPORT AND SOCIAL/RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS, YAI/RCAPD PROMOTES ESSENTIAL SOCIAL AND VOCATIONAL SKILLS THAT ENABLE PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES TO LEAD INDEPENDENT, PRODUCTIVE AND DIGNIFIED LIVES. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING DIRECT SERVICES TO ADOLOSCENTS AND ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES, YAI/RCAPD ALSO OFFERS EXTENSIVE SUPPORT AND EDUCATION TO FAMILIES, AND GUIDANCE AND TRAINING TO PROFESSIONALS WHO ARE WORKING WITH PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.
