Spatial transcriptomics technologies opened the door for new kinds of biological measurements, allowing scientists to generate detailed maps of where genes are expressed in tissue. Now, a new approach eliminates the need for time-intensive specialized imaging, making spatial transcriptomics easier for more scientists to use. “Our work converts imaging into molecular biology — just a reaction in a test tube,” said Fei Chen, senior author on the study. “That means anybody can use this approach if they have the algorithm and some common materials.” https://broad.io/ChenNews0403 (fb)

What if you could pursue your research overseas—and had the chance to work in person with your global team of collaborators? Since its inception in 2021, the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Genomic Mechanisms of Disease (NNFC) at Broad has given scientists that opportunity. This scientific exchange is helping to accelerate research on the biology of metabolic disease. Here’s a story about two of those scientists: a Broad researcher who pursued her project in Copenhagen, and a Ph.D. candidate from Denmark who spent several months at the Broad. 🔗: broad.io/NNFCft Novo Nordisk Foundation (fb)
