THE PURPOSES OF THE CORPORATION ARE CHARITABLE, EDUCATIONAL AND SCIENTIFIC PURPOSES WITHIN THE MEANING OF SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE OF 1986, AS AMENDED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE PROMOTION OF UNDERSTANDING OF GASTROINTESTINAL (GI) MICROBIOLOGY, PHYSIOLOGY, IMMUNOLOGY AND NUTRITIONAL SCIENCES AS THEY RELATE TO THE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF DOMESTICATED AND WILD HERBIVORES, NON-RUMINANT ANIMALS AND PEOPLE. THE CORPORATION ALSO PROMOTES THE UNDERSTANDING OF HOST-MICROBE INTERACTIONS, PRE- AND PRO-BIOTICS, AND ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE IN RELATION TO GI TECHNOLOGIES AS THEY APPLY TO THE STUDY OF GI MICROBIAL ECOSYSTEMS. ("OMICS" TECHNOLOGIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, METAGENOMICS, METATRANSCRIPTOMICS, PROTEOMICS, AND METABOLOMICS.)

Congress on Gastrointestinal Function The CGIF 2024 Congress will take place April 8 to 10 2024 at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois UrbanaChampaign. CGIF maintains a tradition established in 1951 to provide academic and industry scientists a biennial forum to present the latest advances in our understanding of gastrointestinal microbiology immunophysiology and nutritional sciences. The topics presented at the congress include studies with livestock and poultry species for food production and biomedical research as well as clinical and nutritional studies relevant to improving human health and wellbeing.
