VANAVEVHU
Vanavevhu is a U.S. based non profit dedicated to assisting children orphaned by the AIDS pandemic in Zimbabwe who have out of necessity become the family head. Operating in the African country of Zimbabwe, Vanavevhu (Shona for "Children of the Soil") provides for children orphaned by AIDS the resources that a parent would otherwise provide: food, education, and health care. We are dedicated to the financial self-sufficiency of child-headed families and to the development of at-risk youth by providing training and job opportunities to ensure a measurable improvement in their lives. Our social investment and holistic approach keep families together and support young heads of household in fulfilling their adult responsibilities. In preparing them to become committed participants in the success and growth of their communities, our work is an investment in the future of Zimbabwe.
