Iringa Hope works to alleviate the extreme poverty of rural Iringa, Tanzania. Our reports are at https://sites.google.com/site/iringahopeannualreport/ Iringa Hope works in the rural areas of the Iringa district in Tanzania, developing locally owned and managed micro finance co-ops. These co-ops provide financing to the local small scale (2-4 acres) farmers. Without a loan most farmers can not use fertilizer or hybrid seeds in their fields. This results in poor crops and incomes averaging $300/year for a family of 6. When these farmers get a $300 loan they will use fertilizer and improved seeds and their incomes will rise to over $900/year. At this level malnurishment will disappear among the children due to better food (38% of the children suffer from this). All of the children will now be able to go to school. The family will be able to gradually build a small brick house and leave their mud brick homes. This will reduce a variety of diseases within the family. Currently Iringa Hope is serving over 2,400 families with a waiting list of 750 families. Families sign up for Iringa Hope and then must wait for there to be sufficient capital to help them. Will you sponsor a family to a better life through Iringa Hope???
