Newbees: if you’re going to paint your woodenware, now is the time to start applying the multiple coats to protect against the weather. Remember, paint any surfaces bees do NOT touch (so not the insides). Two exceptions: do NOT paint the rim of the bottom board and boxes where the next box will stack DO paint the landing board portion of the bottom board to protect it from the elements. We’d love to see your bee-autiful colors and designs. Here’s some inspiration – almost any color will do. Differentiating your colonies by appearance helps with drifting and thus colony health.
