New York City is in the midst of a housing crisis. Over 120,000 people, including families and children, are homeless on any given night. That’s why housing leaders across the aisle—from legislators to advocates to real estate—are united in calling to #PassHAVP now.   The Housing Access Voucher Program (HAVP – S72/A1704) is a state-funded rental assistance program modeled on Section 8 but tailored for New York. It would help families exit homelessness, avoid eviction, and access stable housing—while saving the state millions in shelter costs.   With federal housing supports under threat, New York must act. HAVP can bring relief to thousands of households right now. It won’t solve the crisis alone, but it’s a critical step. Lawmakers must include HAVP in this year’s budget - New Yorkers can’t wait.
