A 24-ACRE ENLARGEMENT OF THE ARNOLD ARBORETUM, A BOSTON CITY PARK, WAS PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED ON MARCH 13, 1996 BY THE FORMER MAYOR THOMAS M. MENINO, THE FIRST ENLARGEMENT OF THIS PARK IN 101 YEARS. THE ORGANIZATION IS INVOLVED IN PROTECTING AND ENHANCING PUBLIC ENJOYMENT IN THE ARBORETUM LANDS.

It is independent of both Harvard and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department. The APCs goals are to promote public access to the Arboretum and to increase the variety of visitor experiences. Bussey Brook Meadow The central achievement of the Arboretum Park Conservancy is the incorporation of the Bussey Brook Meadow a long underappreciated segment of open space into the Arnold Arboretum Indenture.
