NANM promotes, preserves, and supports all genres of music created and performed by African Americans Founded in 1919, the National Association of Negro Musicians, Inc. is the country’s oldest organization dedicated to the preservation, encouragement and advocacy of all genres of the music of the African Diaspora. The promotion and development of knowledge and appreciation of music composed and performed by all persons but especially those of African American decent.
