From the Rush Archives: In 1983, Ron Graf, RN, was one of five male nurses working in obstetrics and gynecology at Rush. Reflecting on a court ruling that allowed hospitals to exclude male nurses from labor and delivery rooms, Graf said most patients had no issue with a male nurse. “Occasionally patients are surprised when I tell them I’m a nurse,” he said. “They automatically assume I’m a doctor.
