FURRY FRIENDS REFUGE
Furry Friends Refuge is a non-profit animal shelter that is no-kill, which serves central Iowa’s animals in need. Furry Friends Refuge is a humane no-kill animal shelter that has built a no-kill community in West Des Moines, Clive, and Urbandale. We are open-admission to all animals in need in those cities as well as Windsor Heights, and offer a no-kill guarantee to them plus any other animals we are able to take in. Since 2013, more than 95 percent of the animals we take in leave our shelter alive.Furry Friends seeks to assist all of central Iowa's animals in need through a variety of programs including adoptions, low-cost spay and neuter, community outreach, and humane education. We are managed by volunteers, and all donations go directly to the programs that serve the animals.

City council will be voting to change that on May 15 2023. While Furry Friends received less than 5 of the citys budget for animal welfare it has done the vast majority of work for animals within the city.
