✨ "A lot of positive things are going on that I can pat myself on my back for..." Mekiah is celebrating a year and a half of sobriety and is stepping into leadership as an Amethyst Peer Ambassador—helping plan Friday community programs and support new clients on their recovery journeys. She’s also applied to Columbus State to become a certified peer supporter and shared that she’s finally learning to appreciate and love herself. 💜 This is what growth and healing look like. We’re so proud of her progress and the path she’s paving for others! #180degreeimpact Read her entire story here: https://alvis180.org/blog/the-courage-to-heal-mekiahs-story-of-sobriety-and-self-love/ (fb)

Dionne Jenkins, Division Director of Corrections and Reentry at Alvis, has dedicated nearly three decades to making a difference. Her career with Alvis began in 1994 after completing her studies at The Ohio State University. Starting as a case manager, she worked with the male population before quickly advancing to a Program Manager role at the Bryden Road location, supporting women. Her leadership journey continued when she moved back to Dayton, OH, taking on the role of Director at the Alvis-Cope location, where she remained for 12 years. After exploring other opportunities, she returned to Alvis in 2011 as a Director and later transitioned into her current role as Division Director. This October, she will celebrate 14 years since her return. Alvis provided opportunities for growth, leadership, and self-discovery. Dionne often reflects on how the organization saw potential in her before she fully recognized it herself. Throughout the years, her leadership has been shaped by experiences—both rewarding and challenging—all driven by a commitment to leading with integrity, honesty, and a heart for service. Her work at Alvis aligns closely with her core values—treating others with respect, kindness, and a deep commitment to helping those in need. For Dionne, the motivation isn’t about recognition but about ensuring that clients leave Alvis as better versions of themselves. With the belief that “when we know better, we’re supposed to do better,” she remains focused on supporting both clients and staff. "Our clients need us, and our staff do too. I hope that someone sees something in me that helps them see something in themselves as we work to move forward the mission and vision of Alvis." Thank you, Dionne, for your unwavering dedication and leadership! #180degreeimpact (fb)
