🏘️ This week, Habitat leaders from across Minnesota gathered in Alexandria to learn about an exciting development by Habitat for Humanity of Douglas County: Summer Meadows! This is Alexandria’s first affordable housing development since 2002 and the largest project in the 27-year history of the local Habitat affiliate. Over the next 10 years, Summer Meadows will bring 42 new homes to the community, with 4–5 homes built each year. Nestled next to Summer Meadows Park, the development includes sidewalks on both sides of the street, a buffer of native plants, and easy access to bike trails, fostering a strong, connected neighborhood. This project was made possible through a powerful partnership between the City of Alexandria and Douglas County Habitat for Humanity. As the need for safe, stable, and affordable housing grows across our state, this kind of community-building shows what’s possible.
