Yesterday, eBay and TCGplayer abruptly closed the Syracuse Authentication Center and terminated all of its union workers. This is blatant retaliation against the efforts of workers to fight for better wages and working conditions at the company and an illegal attempt to avoid their bargaining responsibilities. They are punishing workers for standing up for their rights. Since workers launched their union with CWA in 2023, eBay has waged a relentless union-busting campaign to silence them and refuse to bargain in good faith for a first contract. Now, company leaders have gathered behind closed doors and decided to shutter TCGplayer’s sole authentication center in Syracuse, N.Y., illegally purging the company of all of its union workers. TCGplayer, which is owned by eBay, is one of the largest online marketplaces for verification services, card games, and collectible trading cards. They are trying to make us disappear, but we will not stop fighting.
