Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy is a non-profit dedicated to preservation of Jewish historical sites. Customized tours, special events, educational programs. We offer customized private tours and innovative public tours of the Jewish Lower East Side, and other historically Jewish neighborhoods in NYC. We are an educational organization, created in 1998 with a mission to celebrate, preserve, and share the Jewish heritage of New York City's neighborhoods, starting with the iconic Lower East Side, America's most famous immigrant neighborhood. We accomplish this by providing walking tours: private; public; and educational (for students,) with a portion of the proceeds of each tour returned to the sites visited to help preserve the neighborhoods exceptional patrimony. Through our efforts, many synagogues have been designated as historic landmarks, and have been listed on New York State and National Registers. In 2000, the Conservancy assisted in designating a 32 – block area as a historic district.
