On Saturday, May 30th, the Coy Public Library of Shippensburg's annual Duck Derby took place to the delight of many observers. This event happens every year as hundreds of yellow plastic ducks are dropped in the creek before the King Street bridge. The ducks float down the creek to the finish line past the Library bridge. Three judges are positioned in the creek. They keenly observe and determine the three fastest ducks to cross the finish line. This year duck #136 accidentally began the race prior to the starting signal. Board Trustee, Crystal Collier-Walker, braved the cold creek to capture the renegade duck and insure all the ducks began together! This event is a fund raiser for the Coy Library. All proceeds benefit the Library. Ducks were for purchase prior to the derby at a cost of $5 each or 5 for $20. One very generous man, Kyle Peck, bought $100 worth of ducks and the Library is grateful to him for his generosity. This event is a fundraiser for the Coy Library. All proceeds benefit the Library. Hello, I wanted to let you know that we still have some space in some camps for this summer, especially for our 4th-8th grade and Teen Camps. If you have not signed up your kids for camps, know of any friends that would be interested, or your child is interested in a third camp option, please feel to sign up again and share with those you know. Also, if you have any kids that are in high school that are interested in the 4th- 8th camps, we would be more than happy to have them attend those camps. Here is the registration link: https://forms.gle/SFKDyQppTCaaUqLW7.
