IMPORTANT NOTICE regarding the upcoming Winston-Salem Journal and Sentinel (Building 1) Tour - Parking can be found on the street, as well as in the Cherry-Marshall parking garage (a parking pass will be provided when you leave). Also, please enter through the building's main entrance (it is marked with a sign) that is located on Marshall Street behind the Stevens center. To learn more about this tour and/or register (there are still a few spaces available.

#TerminologyTuesday: Splining Splining is the installation of narrow strips of new wood between boards to fill gaps. This term is also used for inserting a thin, horizontal piece of wood into slots cut in two adjacent floorboards as a bridge between the two. This sort of spline is essentially a loose "tongue" inserted into two "grooves" in an early form of tongue-and-groove flooring.
