SPECIFICALLY, FOUNDRY 47 FOUNDATION WAS FORMED FOR THE PURPOSE OF IDENTIFYING AND FUNDING PROGRAMS TO REDUCE THE NUMBER AND IMPACT OF SMALL ARMS AND LIGHT WEAPONS ("SALW") IN CONFLICT AND POST CONFLICT REGIONS AROUND THE WORLD IN TWO WAYS. FIRST, BY IDENTIFYING AND FUNDING PROGRAMS THAT PERMANENTLY REMOVE AND DESTROY SALW IN CONFLICT AND POST CONFLICT SOCIETIES. SECOND, BY PROVIDING FUNDING SUPPORT TO GROUPS OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN THESE REGIONS WHO PROVIDE (I) PROGRAMS ASSISTING WITH THE REEDUCATION AND REINTEGRATION OF CHILDREN WHO WERE FORCED INTO CONSCRIPTION AS CHILD SOLDIERS IN CONFLICT AND (II) FELLOWSHIPS TO INSPIRING YOUNG PEOPLE IN THESE SOCIETIES WHO HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO ACT AS LEADERS IN CIVIL SOCIETY BY EXCELLING IN ACADEMIC, CIVIC, AND BUSINESS PURSUITS.
