Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio

The first Masonic Temple of the Lodge of Hope and Perseverance was established in 1859 in Anarkali, Lahore. It was within these walls that author and poet Rudyard Kipling was initiated as a Mason in 1885, under special dispensation allowing him to join before turning 21. Following his initiation, he went on to serve as the Lodge’s secretary.
