Lassen Fire Safe Council wants our communities in and around Janesville Grade/Thompson Peak to be aware that CAL FIRE, in coordination with the U.S. Forest Service-Plumas National Forest and Lassen Fire Safe Council, will be conducting a 400 acre pile burning project approximate 2.5 miles southeast of Thompson Peak Lookout within the Dixie Fire footprint. Operations will begin Monday, March 31 and continue through the month of April. Pile burning operation will be ongoing as weather and fuels are favorable to achieve the desired fuel reduction objective. Smoke from the project may be visible to the public, but there is no need to report. The purpose of the project is to reduce dead and downed fuels in the Dixie Fire burn scar, as well as to help reduce the possibility of wildfire burning into the residential area of Janesville. We are proud to work with our partner agencies on this important project to better protect our communities! (fb)
