Yesterday, our friends at WGVU asked #viewerslikeme what kind of Happy Little Tree was in their video. After checking out the exfoliating bark, maple-like leaves, alternate leaf structure, and pyramid shape, our Certified Arborists immediately identified this as the London planetree! 🌳 This fast-growing shade tree can often be misidentified as its close cousin, the American Sycamore. One way you can tell the difference is that this tree has more yellow in its bark than the American Sycamore's cooler white bark. (Plus, statistically, if it's in an urban environment, it is most likely a planetree!) (fb)
