NFSAR serves as the only dedicated wilderness and rural SAR resource within the eight western counties of New York and was formed to assist public safety agencies and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation with land search and rescue. We are a volunteer notforprofit 501c3 organization established in July of 2007 dedicated to finding lost missing or stranded individuals and educating the public on wilderness hiking and recreational safety. We are dispatched through the Erie County NY Medical Emergency Radio System MERS and our services can be requested by any public safety agency and by NYSFEDSAR for searches across New York State.
