Congratulations to recent DAISY Award winner Shelby Walters! Shelby works with our inpatient neuroscience patients, and her nominator said she provided more than just medical care—she created a safe space for both the patient and her mother. She met the family's concerns with patience and sensitivity, and comforted them with empathy, kindness and respect. The transition to adulthood can be challenging for some teenagers, especially if they need extra support. Our Thrive Program offers family-centered, group-based programming for kids ages 14 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This allows teens to make connections, and learn and practice life skills like self-care and cooking with the help of skilled occupational therapists.
