Oregon Abuse Advocates and Survivors in Service (OAASIS)
Overview

Oregon Abuse Advocates and Survivors in Service (OAASIS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse and supporting survivors in Oregon. Founded with a mission to build a movement to end child sexual abuse, OAASIS focuses on advocacy, prevention, and survivor support. The organization is categorized under the National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) as a child abuse prevention organization.

Mission and Activities

OAASIS aims to empower communities to prevent child sexual abuse and help survivors live healthy, joyful lives. Its activities are structured around three key areas:

  • Individual Support: Providing resources to help individuals tap into their resilience and foster post-traumatic growth.
  • Building Community: Creating a safe, connected community for survivors and their loved ones.
  • Creating Change: Amplifying survivors' voices and working towards cultural transformation to prevent child abuse.

OAASIS also sponsors a Speakers Bureau, which provides a platform for survivor-leaders and advocates to educate the public and shape conversations about child sexual abuse.

Financial Overview

OAASIS operates primarily on donations, with contributions making up a significant portion of its income. As of its most recent fiscal year, contributions accounted for approximately 95.5% of total revenue, while program services accounted for about 4.3%[1].

The organization maintains a strong financial position with total assets exceeding its liabilities.

Leadership

Klarissa Ling Oh serves as the Executive Director of OAASIS. She brings a background of working with children and mothers in health, education, and faith communities, and is committed to creating a more life-affirming Oregon through survivor-led initiatives.

Public Impact

OAASIS contributes to the national movement against child sexual abuse by pioneering survivor-centered and life-affirming approaches. It aims to shift public perceptions and policy responses away from fear and shame towards a more nuanced and supportive model of addressing child abuse.

Through its efforts, OAASIS seeks to honor the lives and amplify the voices of survivors, promoting a culture that values humanity and fosters healing and safety for all individuals.
